Photo eyes sensors are small plastic devices located at the bottom of the door path, on both sides of the garage door opening. They are part of the garage door safety mechanism system, ensuring that if there is a person or an object that is directly underneath the door, the system stops operation and the door does not closes, thus, preventing crushing the person or object.

Possible issues with the photo eyes sensors that may cause the door to open is that the sensors are not properly aligned, defective, or that there is an object in the direct line of sight between the 2 sensors. Check that the photo eyes sensors have a flashing green light. Then, check if there is debris or other obstructions in front of the photo eyes sensors. Next, check that the sensors are facing each other with a direct line of sight.
